AUTOMATIC MAINTENANCE OF SMOKE EXTRACTION SYSTEMS

  • The customer for whom the valve was engineered designs and installs smoke extraction systems for enclosed spaces.
  • The goal is to create a modular solution that can be easily configured according to the type of system to be installed, allowing for simple and effective maintenance of the suction pipes.
  • The constant suction of air generates dust deposits inside the pipes, which can be effectively removed by applying compressed air.

THE SOLUTION

  • The Mec Fluid 2 -HT-Y0135G valve, with two unique inlets, one for vacuum and the other for compressed air, manages suction and blowing, thus allowing the pipes to be cleaned.
  • The valve group is modular, consisting of a number of valves that allow vacuum/compressed air to be managed individually for each area covered by the system.

BENEFITS FOR THE CUSTOMER

  • The customer has a basic module to which a single valve is connected (via two special tie rods) for each area served by the system. The basic module, which receives the vacuum and compressed air lines, is then connected to all the individual valves added. By connecting it to a PLC, the system is able to operate autonomously and in a programmed manner.
  • The maintenance unit can ensure the cleanliness of the suction system pipes, guaranteeing a positive effect on the time it takes for the filters in the detector to become dirty, extending their life with a positive effect on operating costs. Clean compressed air with a minimum pressure of 4 bar is required to activate the valve. The modular system allows for the application of 1 to N pipes (usually no more than 6), and any dirt deposited on the pipes will be removed by the air flow and expelled through the suction holes. The valve assembly is particularly compact and therefore easily installed inside commercially available metal cabinets. The connections to the pipes are made by interference (the holes on the valve bodies have a conical profile) without the need for special fittings and equipment, resulting in minimal installation time.
